How to Register?

  • Registration for foursome is $1,000.00, which is the Early Birdie special. Regular price for the tournament is $2,000.00 per team.
  • We'll also host a gallery where fans can experience an homecoming-like atmosphere with music, food, and drinks along with Raffles and giveaways. This is a family friendly event, so bring the fam to cheer on your favorite HBCU!

The Event

At The Classic Tournament, we set out to create a one of a kind experience for the recreational golfer with game! We wanted to provide a sustainable platform that the average golfer can attain and create a tournament that provides an opportunity for golfers to experience what it feel like to be on Tour. Not only Tour, but playing for something bigger than yourself...your Alma Mater. 


We believe that golf is more than just a golf scramble - it's a way of life. We are dedicated to providing golfers world-class events to compete in a competitive, high stakes tournament, while repping your University. Join us for the Inaugural Classic Tournament...this is only the beginning! 

What is The Classic Tournament?

Who is eligible?

The Classic Tournament will feature golfers from around the DMV area. Golfers of all ages and gender with some skills on the course, representing HBCUs and local golf clubs. Golfers will be required to provide a USGA GHIN number and handicap index to participate. 

Tournament style

The Classic Tournament will be a heads up match, bracket style tournament. Winner takes most; with a substantial cash prize. Women and men are welcome to compete. There will be a composite handicap index requirement, we will take an aggregate of all teams to ensure the tournament provides a competitive match for all. Money is on the line so send your best sticks to compete!

The Classic Experience

 The Classic Tournament is more than just a golf competition—it’s an all-encompassing celebration of HBCU culture. Alongside the action on the greens, enjoy a homecoming-style tailgating experience featuring:

  • Delicious Food Vendors: Indulge in local favorites and soulful culinary delights.
  • Live Music: Groove to a vibrant mix of sounds that reflect the essence of HBCU traditions.
  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Bring your loved ones to join the festivities, creating memories for all generations.

This dynamic environment ensures everyone—golfer or not—can partake in the celebration and pride of our shared legacy.

The Course

We will be using USGA GHIN scores to rank and pair teams. This will be a stroke-play match with USGA judges and rules at one of the most exclusive courses in the DMV region, The Belmont Country Club, located in Ashburn, VA.  


Ranked as the 3rd toughest course in Virginia. The Belmont Country Club will surely challenge your game and provide one of the best golfing experiences you'll come across! So bring your A game and represent your University well! 

Giving Back

  • 1st place team - Donating a cash contribution on winning team's behalf to alma mater's athletic department
  • 2nd place team - Donating a cash contribution on team's behalf to alma mater's athletic department 
  • 3rd place team - Donating a cash contribution on team's behalf to alma mater's athletic department 

The Classic Stakes

The Classic Tournament will reward substantial cash prizes to the top three teams, in addition to the donations made to each HBCU scholarship fund and/or golf program on the top 3 winning teams' behalf. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to secure bragging rights and elevate your chapter’s legacy within the HBCU community and the DMV region.
